How to Create a Payment Link Destination with TacTile

A TacTile Payment Link destination sends anyone who taps your card or scans your code straight to your existing Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, or PayPal page. In the TacTile app, choose the Payments category, pick "Paste a payment link," drop in your existing pay.me/venmo-style URL, and save — no bank connection or approval process required.

What is a payment link destination?

A Payment Link destination is a tap-or-scan shortcut that opens a person's existing payment profile link — it does not process money itself and requires no merchant account. In plain terms: it's a URL redirect for getting paid, not a payment processor.

84% of U.S. consumers have already used a peer-to-peer payment service, and 91% of Gen Z and Millennials have.

Which path should I use?

Payment Link is the only path for this destination type — there's no Build or Connect option here by design, because the money movement happens entirely inside Venmo/Cash App/Zelle/PayPal's own apps. If you instead want tap-to-checkout with a live merchant account (card payments, invoicing, receipts through Square or Stripe), you want the Payment Connector destination, not this one. Use Payment Link when you want the fastest possible setup and you're comfortable with peer-to-peer apps; use Payment Connector when you're running a registered business that needs to accept card payments directly.

Common use cases

Freelancers and gig workers

A photographer, DJ, or personal trainer taps a client's phone at the end of a session and the client is instantly on a Venmo request screen.

Service tipping

Bartenders, delivery drivers, and salon staff add a "Tip Me" NFC sticker at the counter or on a receipt, driving tips that would otherwise require cash.

Market and pop-up vendors

Craft fair and farmers market sellers who don't want a card reader use a tap-to-pay card as their entire checkout.

Split-cost roommates and events

A shared QR code on a fridge or event flyer routes rent, utility, or ticket contributions to one Venmo or Zelle account.

Content creators and tip jars

Streamers and musicians link Buy Me a Coffee or Ko-fi so tips collected during a live show or busking set land instantly.

Payment Link + analytics

Every TacTile destination reports back Total Views — the number of times your card was tapped or your code was scanned and the destination opened. For Payment Link specifically, this view count is your best proxy for "payment requests initiated," since TacTile can't see whether the payment was completed inside Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, or PayPal (that step happens outside TacTile). Track view spikes against real deposits in your payment app to gauge conversion.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use more than one payment app on the same card?
Yes. Create separate Payment Link destinations for each provider (Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, PayPal) and either stack them on a Link Hub destination or swap the active one per event.
Does TacTile take a cut of payments sent through a Payment Link?
No. TacTile only stores and opens the link; the transaction happens entirely inside the destination app, subject to that app's own fees.
Is Zelle actually supported as a payment link?
Zelle typically requires a phone number or email tied to a bank rather than a public shareable URL, so support may vary by bank. Check the in-app provider list for current availability.
Do I need a business account to use a Payment Link?
No — this path is built for personal P2P accounts. If you need a registered merchant account for card payments, use Payment Connector instead.
What happens if I update my Venmo username later?
Edit the destination in the TacTile app and paste your new link; the same NFC card or QR code will start pointing to the updated URL immediately, no reprint needed.
Can I see who paid me through TacTile?
No — payment confirmation and payer identity live inside your payment app, not TacTile. TacTile only reports that the destination was opened.
Is a Payment Link secure?
Yes. TacTile stores only the destination URL you provide; no financial credentials or account access are ever shared with TacTile.
Can I combine a Payment Link with my digital business card?
Yes — add it as a secondary destination on the same card or profile, or list it as one tile inside a Link Hub alongside your contact card and socials.
