How to Create a Photo Gallery Destination with TacTile

A TacTile Gallery destination turns a tap or scan into a scrollable grid of photos you upload directly inside the app — no external hosting needed. Choose the Photos & Videos category, select Gallery, upload your images, arrange the grid, and publish; there's a single Build path, so setup is fast and self-contained.

What is a gallery destination?

A Gallery destination is a self-contained, tap-triggered photo grid hosted directly by TacTile — you upload the images once, and every tap or scan opens the same curated grid without pulling from an external album or social account. Put simply: it's a private, always-current photo wall that lives behind your tap, not behind someone else's platform.

73% of people say they prefer visual or video content when learning about a product or service over reading about it.

How to create a gallery destination

Build

Create a curated, TacTile-hosted photo grid — the only path for this destination.Recommended

  1. Open the TacTile app and tap Create.
  2. On the category picker, select Photos & Videos — "Galleries, clips, and links."
  3. On the type picker, choose Gallery from the Build section.
  4. Tap Add photos and select images from your camera roll, or take new photos directly in-app.
  5. Reorder the grid by dragging thumbnails into your preferred sequence (cover photo first is typical).
  6. Optionally group photos into albums or sub-sections if you're showing more than one shoot or event.
  7. Add a title and short caption for the gallery (e.g., "Smith Wedding — June 2026").
  8. Set a cover image — this is the thumbnail shown before someone taps into the full grid.
  9. Tap Save & Publish, then assign the gallery to your NFC card, table tent, or QR code.
  10. Open the published gallery on your own phone to confirm image order, load speed, and captions look right.

Which path should I use?

There's only one path for Gallery, which keeps this decision simple — but it's worth knowing when a Gallery is the wrong destination type. If you want to show a single video or an audio clip rather than a grid of stills, use the Video/Audio destination instead. If your photos already live on Instagram, Google Photos, or another platform and you just want to point people there instead of re-uploading, use Media Link. Gallery is specifically for when you want full control over a curated, TacTile-hosted set of still images with no dependency on an outside platform's algorithm or privacy settings.

Common use cases

Wedding and event photographers

Hand a client an NFC card that opens the full shoot gallery instantly, no email attachments or download links.

Real estate agents

A yard-sign QR code or door-hanger NFC tag opens a property photo gallery so buyers can browse room-by-room before scheduling a showing.

Artists and craftspeople

A market table card opens a gallery of past work, functioning as a portable portfolio without a laptop or printed lookbook.

Contractors and home-service pros

Before/after project galleries build trust on a business card or truck decal, letting prospects see finished work immediately.

Event venues

A QR code at the entrance or on printed materials opens a gallery of the space so prospective clients can visualize their event.

Gallery + analytics

TacTile tracks Total Views for every Gallery destination — each tap or scan that opened the grid counts as one view, giving you a straightforward measure of portfolio interest. Because a Gallery has no external redirect step, view counts here are a cleaner, more direct signal of genuine interest than link-based destination types, where a view might bounce immediately to another site.

Frequently asked questions

How many photos can I add to a Gallery destination?
The builder supports a generous image set for a typical portfolio or event; check current limits in-app for exact caps.
Can I update a Gallery after publishing it?
Yes — add, remove, or reorder photos anytime; the same NFC card or QR code reflects the update immediately, no reprint needed.
Can I password-protect or restrict who sees a gallery?
Check current app settings for privacy controls — this may vary by plan tier.
Does TacTile compress my photos?
Images are optimized for fast mobile loading; original quality handling depends on current app behavior.
Can I include both photos and a cover video in the same destination?
Gallery is built specifically for still images — for a video-first destination, use the Video/Audio destination type instead.
Is there a way to let visitors download the photos?
Check in-app settings for a download or save option; this may depend on plan tier.
Can I create more than one Gallery destination?
Yes — create separate galleries for different shoots, properties, or projects and assign each to a different card, code, or link slot.
Do galleries work well on slow mobile connections?
TacTile serves images optimized for mobile viewing, but very large unoptimized uploads may load slower on weak connections — compress large files before upload when possible.
